The Tournament of Champions is a two-day mock trial competition for top-performing high school mock trial programs around the world.
It is a once in a lifetime opportunity for high school teams to receive judging from nationally-renowned mock trial champions, and the chance to prepare a complex and challenging case tailored to the championship experience.

2025: State v. Herding
Victim or Villain?
On January 6th, 2024, figure skater Nicky Corrigan is attacked in a shocking accident that shakes the skating world. The investigation soon reveals a sinister plan to sabotage Nicky's chances for the 2024 Olympics. Did Nicky's long-time rival, Toni Herding, help cover the attacker's tracks? Or was Toni in on the plan from the start?
Tournament
Format
Teams will compete in an online format using Zoom. Teams are comprised of 4-8 students, plus a timekeeper. Both the prosecution and defense will be composed of two attorneys and two witnesses each, and trials will be conductd in a 4v4 format. Upon registration, teams will receive access to an in-depth guide to the Tournament of Champions Rules and Procedures on the Championship Portal.
Competition
Dates
All registered teams will compete in at least four trials, with two trials occurring on each day of the competition. The 2025 Tournament of Champions will take place on May 31st and June 1st. A live-streamed Championship Round between the two top scoring teams of the tournament will take place on the evening of June 1st, 2025.
Registration
& Costs
The deadline to register for the 2025 Tournament of Champions is May 1st. Registration is $500 per team. Upon registration, teams will receive access to the Champions Portal. The Portal includes the Tournament of Champions Case File, Rules and Procedures, and logistics for the competition.
We do provide financial aid for all our competitions if necessary. If your team requires financial aid, please email us.
